Membership in FORTRAMA e.V.

Becoming a member of FORTRAMA e.V. means more than joining a professional association—it reflects a clear commitment to strengthening and advancing the field of research and transfer management. FORTRAMA is a vibrant community of professionals who, for many years, have contributed to the exchange of expertise, the development of competencies, and the visibility of our profession across the German-speaking research landscape.

As a full member, you support the mission and values of the association while actively shaping its development. You benefit from a wide range of offerings and opportunities designed to address the needs, challenges, and strategic questions of research and transfer management.

Your Benefits as a Full Member

Active Participation and Influence

Full members help shape a dynamic and evolving profession. They may contribute to the design of the annual conference and benefit from significantly reduced participation fees. Full membership also includes voting rights, eligibility for election to governing bodies, and the ability to submit proposals and engage in strategic decision-making within the association.

Working Groups – the Core of Full Membership

A key distinguishing feature of full membership is the opportunity to participate in FORTRAMA’s thematic working groups. These groups are at the heart of professional exchange within the network. They bring together colleagues from across institutions to:

  • explore practice-relevant topics,

  • address structural and strategic questions of the profession,

  • develop best practices,

  • test and co-create innovative approaches for everyday professional challenges.

Most working groups meet several times a year in digital formats and typically organise one to two in-person meetings annually. Participation in all working-group meetings is free of charge for full members. This regular, structured exchange allows members to deepen their expertise, expand their network, and jointly develop solutions that have practical impact.

Please note: Participation in working groups is an exclusive benefit of full membership. Supporting members do not have access to the working groups and cannot take part in their internal activities.

Professional Development and Training

Full members may contribute to the development of new training formats and participate in workshops and continuing-education events at reduced fees. Access to numerous online events, networking opportunities, and knowledge resources supports ongoing professional growth.

Networking and International Engagement

FORTRAMA offers extensive opportunities for national and international networking. Full members benefit from the association’s global connections and may participate—often at reduced rates—in international conferences and exchange programmes, including activities offered through partners such as the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI).
